The Saudi Arabia Experience

Something new and exciting is happening in Saudi Arabia!  It is called Saudi Vision 2030, which is a bold and achievable plan to reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependence on oil; diversify its economy; and develop public service sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, recreation, and tourism.  The Ministry of Interior launched a wide-sweeping transformation initiative of the Kingdom’s prison sector, including everything from the vision, finances, and overall prison conditions.  The contract for the transformation project was awarded to the consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), based in London.  Leadership at PwC wisely contracted with Creative Corrections to provide two senior Subject Matter Experts (SME) in prison leadership, reform, inmate management, and correctional budgeting and vision.  PwC also contracted two SMEs from Canada a fifth from England.

Creative Corrections employs the most talented, experienced, accomplished, and knowledgeable correctional professionals the nation has to offer.  Our employees range from former Wardens and Administrators in various State and the Federal correctional systems, to very specialized staff in medical, environmental health and safety, and foodservice management.  We were fortunate enough to provide PwC with Jack Fox and Ken McKellar.  Both Jack and Ken retired after very successful careers in corrections.  Jack worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 29 years, serving as Warden at three different locations, and Ken worked for the South Carolina Department of Corrections for over 40 years serving as a Warden and Administrator in their headquarters.

Both Jack and Ken were hand-picked by Creative Corrections and subsequently by PwC. While in Saudi Arabia, both Jack and Ken toured several different prisons to assess the overall mission, correctional programming, security management, staffing, inmate living conditions, and staff and inmate morale.  They worked directly with the leadership of PwC and the Kingdom’s Transformation Manager and his staff, to evaluate and process data, and make recommendations consistent with the transformation initiative and the Saudi Vision 2030 blueprint.  Jack and Ken have been very successful and valuable to PwC as they continue to move this project forward.

At Creative Corrections, we feel very fortunate to employ such a diverse and knowledgeable group of Correctional Professionals.  We are committed to providing real working solutions to real correctional challenges, world-wide.  It has been an honor for us to work on this historic and transformational prison project in the Kingdom and we look forward to continued collaboration with PwC.
